Supporting Families in Our VSB Community
This winter, our PAC is teaming up to support 10 families who could use a little extra help over the break. Family identities stay completely private — we only receive general info like household size, kids’ ages, and a few interests.
From Nov 17 – Dec 15, each class (some combined) will be paired with one family and will collect:
🛒 Non-perishable food
🎁 New gifts for kids (age-appropriate, based on interests)
🧼 Hygiene products
💳 Gift cards
⸻
How to Donate
📦 Classroom boxes:
Food + hygiene products can be dropped into your class collection box.
🎁 Gifts + gift cards:
Please hand these directly to PAC volunteers at drop-off or pick-up.
Look for our friendly volunteers in Santa hats at the school entrance!

Donation Guidelines
🛒 Food
• Non-perishable only
• Not expired + reasonable shelf life
🎁 Gifts
• New items only (toys, books, games, art supplies)
• Parent volunteers may move gifts between families to keep hampers fair
💳 Gift Cards
• Most helpful: Superstore, Walmart, grocery stores, clothing stores
• For treats: Tim Hortons is preferred over pricier options
• Restaurant cards often go unused if families can’t afford to add money → practical cards are most appreciated
⸻
Hamper Assembly – Dec 15
On Dec 15:
• PAC + student volunteers will collect and sort all classroom donations
• Intermediate students will “shop” to build balanced hampers
• Parent volunteers will match gifts/gift cards to each child and ensure families receive equitable support
Our shared goal: thoughtful, balanced hampers that bring extra care and joy over the winter break.

Please note:
Receiving a school hamper does not prevent families from accessing other community supports. This is an additional, confidential form of help.
