Yearbook Orders 2020

Hello Carnarvon Families!

Carnarvon will still have a yearbook this year and you can order them anytime between now and May 15th! To keep things simpler this time, ordering will take place directly through the Herff Jones yearbook website ( Year Book Centre ). Note: the order page will ask for the school’s order number, but click on “enter school’s name instead” (below the Enter button) and go on from there. The price will be $12.00 each. As usual, the books will arrive near the end of June – stay tuned for pick-up information.

But wait!

The yearbook also needs your photos! To make the yearbook more lively and memorable, it is great to have photos from field trips, sports events and other school activities. If you have any pictures from events like these, please upload them through eShare.

Thanks!

Carnarvon Carnival (planning committee)

Carnival is our school’s “village fair” – families gather at the school each spring

for an evening of food, games, inflatables and fun (save the date: May 22, 2020).

This giant event is planned and run by parent volunteers – led this year by

Kerry Kenwood with help from Lisa Tautz. If you can, please consider joining

the planning committee. (We really need help & we’ll create a role that works

for you.) First planning meeting is Thursday, March 5th at 7pm at Lisa’s house.

Wine & treats provided. We’ll do our best to make planning efficient & fun.

Please email chair@carnarvonpac.ca for more information.

Call for casseroles…

Potluck for teachers

(goal-setting conferences – March 11th & 12th)
Each year, Carnarvon families have a tradition of providing food for the

teachers during goal-setting conferences. If you can, please bring casseroles,

salads or treats to the staff room on Wednesday, March 11th and/or Thursday,

March 12th. (Reminder: early dismissal at 2pm both days.)

Free Nutrition Talk for Carnarvon Parents

Wednesday, March 4th

7pm school library

Picky eaters, changing guidelines and Goop guilt: how to realistically manage your child’s nutrition. Join the Carnarvon PAC and school community for an exclusive event with Gayathri Murthy, M.Sc. (UBC Faculty and a Registered Dietitian) and Dr. Eric Cadesky (Family Physician/UBC Clinical Assistant Professor). Bring your questions and stories as we discuss practical advice on how to create positive eating experiences and deal with real-world challenges in the age of food misinformation.

Notes

*This event is offered to Carnarvon parents and guardians free of charge.

However, please help the organizers: send a quick rsvp email (as soon as

possible) to info@carnarvonpac.com so we can help the speakers prepare

and plan how to set-up the room.

**Free onsite child minding can be arranged upon request. Please contact chair@carnarvonpac.ca for more information. (Advance notice is required

for child-minding – sorry, no drop-ins!)

Carnarvon Winter Market – December 11th

Carnarvon’s annual
Winter Market
will be happening this year on
Wednesday, December 11th!

Students will have the opportunity to purchase gifts for family and friends at very low prices. We are now collecting new and like-new re-giftable items that will be sold at the market. We are also collecting wrapping paper and gift bags.

Please drop off items in the bin at the office. This is a great opportunity to de-clutter at home and raise funds for the school!

We are also in need of some volunteers to help set up the day before, sell items, wrap presents and clean up. Please sign up by clicking on the link:

Thank you for your donations and your time!

Regards,
