Online Safety and Digital Literacy Workshop

Dear Carnarvon parents and guardians,

Please join us for an important workshop!

The Carnarvon PAC is sponsoring an evening workshop for parents and guardians:  Online Safety and Digital Literacy, presented by The White Hatter – on Tuesday, April 23nd, 7-9pm. (Intermediate students will be attending workshops at school with the same presenter on the following day.)

Tickets: This workshop is free with advance registration on eventbrite until 11pm on Monday, April 22. (Please help the organizers by registering in advance.) Day-of-event tickets will be available at the door for $5 each.

Babysitting: This evening workshop is for adults only. However, we would be very happy to arrange for grade 7 babysitters at the school during the event. Advance notice is required – please send requests to info@carnarvonpac.ca before April 18th.

Spring Basket Fundraiser

The annual Spring Basket Fundraiser is underway! Please support our PAC by ordering beautiful, high-quality plants for your garden or patio. Choose from colourful hanging baskets or planters which will bring spring to your home. Brighten your garden with premium annuals, and order veggie and strawberry plants to engage the kids in gardening. They might even get into cooking while experimenting with the herb collection you can purchase! Please see a complete list of items to be ordered on our Hot Lunch website.

Ordering is available until April 23rd. The plants will be ready for pick up the week before Mother’s Day – and will make great presents for family and friends.

Ordering can be done through the Hotlunch website. If preferred, paper order forms are available in the yellow shelving unit outside the school office.

The kids get a big kick out of these special Carnarvon keepsakes, and enjoy sharing them with friends and family!

The price is $12.00 per book. (Paper order forms will be available outside the office if you would prefer to order that way.)

Orders will be taken until April 30th.

Also, don’t forget to upload any school-related photos into the yearbook database by going to:  E-share Photo upload Link.  It’s quite easy to do.  Here is a short video that explains how to use eShare:  E-share how-to video

Carnarvon Colony Night – Thursday, Feb 28, 2019

In need of a night out?  Book that sitter and join other Carnarvon parents and caregivers for a fun night of socializing with new and old friends!

Bring: your ticket

Tickets will be available for purchase on the Carnarvon Hot Lunch website from Feb 1 through Feb 15 (Tickets distributed on Feb 21 & 22). Go to www.carnarvonpac.ca and click on the HOT LUNCH tab (halfway down the page).

Tickets are $15 per person and includes any burger AND one drink (beer/wine/highball) – tax and gratuity included in price.

Carnarvon Carnival – Friday, May 24

Hello Carnarvon Families,

The Carnarvon Carnival is just a few short months away (May 24) and we have already started planning!  It is such a fun and exciting event for the kids and a great way to bring our school community together.

We need help!!  There will be opportunities later to sign up to volunteer at the event, however, we need some help with planning and organizing now.  If you are interested in joining the Carnival Committee, please let us know.  We have a few committee leader spots available:

Class Basket / Auction lead – coordinate team to collect class baskets & assemble other auction items/experiences as well as direct the set up at the event

Food lead – help plan and coordinate snacks, drinks, food vendors and direct the set up at event

Games lead – help plan and coordinate team to make/assemble homemade games as well as direct the set up at the event

It is not as onerous as it sounds as a lot of the work has been started and there will be a whole committee working together to get things done.  Please email Samara, Carnival Chair, at events@celebrationsbysamara.com or info@carnarvonpac.ca if you can help by joining the committee or if you would like more information.  Or, you can sign up on the sheet posted on the PAC board in the main hallway near the office.

Direct Donation Drive

Carnarvon PAC Fall 2018 Fundraising – Direct Donation

Did you know that our school has a “Wish List”?  Each Fall, the PAC receives a Wish List from teachers and staff outlining what they think would help support students and enrich the learning environment at Carnarvon School.  The Wish List is where most of the PAC’s fundraising dollars are spent.

This year the Teachers have requested such items as:

  • ipads/keyboards for Intermediates to complete class sets $19,200
  • home reading levelled books and board games for Primaries $700
  • STEM project – woodwork materials $1,000
  • Learning Commons furniture $4,000
  • Gym Sense program for Primaries $1,800
  • Ultimate program for Intermediates $2,200
  • school performances $3,400
  • Bollywood dance program  $3,800

DIRECT DONATION TAX RECEIPT INFO

While many parents are keen to participate in the various fundraisers held throughout the year, some parents prefer to contribute directly toward the PAC fundraising initiatives by making a direct donation. All direct donations of $20 and above are eligible for a tax receipt. Donations can be made in any of the following ways:

OPTION 1 – ONLINE

Online donation is the easiest, is secure and you will receive an instant tax receipt. There is a specific “Fund Destination” parents should choose called E-Carnarvon PAC. This will ensure the donations go directly to this account. If choosing this option, you do not need to fill out the paper donation form attached, just follow these directions:

  • Follow this link: https://vsb.schoolcashonline.com/Fee/Details/1869/196/false/true
  • Choose from the list of donation amounts, or enter a specific amount.
  • Choose a “Fund Destination” from the dropdown- E-Carnarvon PAC
  • If you want the donation to go towards a specific program/item, specify the donation in the “Message” field (example: “this donation is to help fund the dance program”).
  • Click on “Add to Cart”.
  • Review the information for accuracy and click on “Continue”.
  • You will then be prompted to sign in. Please use the same username and password that you use when logging into SchoolCashOnline for your children’s school fees.
  • Continue with the payment process to complete the donation transaction.
  • After the payment has been processed a donation receipt will appear on screen for printing. You will also receive an emailed copy. To receive a tax receipt for the current tax year, donations must be made on or prior to December 31 otherwise they can be made at any time.

OPTION 2 – PAPER FORM, TAX RECEIPT REQUIRED

Cheque made out to Carnarvon Elementary submitted with donation form attached. A tax receipt will be issued by mail. If you are interested in making a financial donation before year-end and want to receive a tax receipt, please complete the attached donation form and drop it off in the PAC mailbox in the office prior to December 13th.

OPTION 3 – TAX RECEIPT NOT REQUIRED

Cheque made out to Carnarvon PAC if you do not require a tax receipt, dropped off into the PAC mailbox in the office. A tax-receipt will NOT be issued.

It is important to note that if you wish to make a direct donation, it will be kept secure, confidential and, regardless of the method (options outlined above), will be designated strictly for Carnarvon programs/PAC initiatives.
