Who is the Carnarvon PAC?
The Carnarvon Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is a citizen group comprised of parents/guardians, community residents and staff, who voluntarily provide assistance in the co-ordination of various school-related events, issues and activities. The Council's official role is to "advise the Board and the principal and staff of the school respecting any matter relating to the school".
Meetings.
Meetings are usually held every month in the school staff lounge, September through June, beginning at 7 p.m. Meetings are open to all Carnarvon parents and guardians, staff, community members and pre-arranged guest speakers. Check for the upcoming PAC meetings in our calendar.
Elections.
Elections are held at the Annual General Meeting. Any parent, guardian, or community member may run for a position. Job descriptions of Carnarvon Advisory Council positions can be provided upon request.
Elected positions include Chair/Co-chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Fundraising, Special Events, Education, Class Representatives, Daycare Representative, Preschool Representative, Safe Arrival, Traffic Safety, Earthquake Preparedness, Pizza Days, Play At Lunch, Walk To School, Communications, Sports Day. Fundraising.
Many fundraising events are supported through the volunteer efforts of the Carnarvon Advisory Council. Profits from pizza day, gift wrap, and poinsettia sales, dances, shows, and other events are all used to fund items not covered by government funding sources. These items may include computers, software, library books, gym equipment, audio visual supplies, etc. See our last Foundraising Event.
